What is body sugaring?

Body sugaring is a natural method of hair removal that dates back to ancient Egypt. It involves a ball of paste made of sugar, water, and lemons. The paste is molded into the hair follicle and removed quickly in the direction of growth. Using the sugaring method, there is minimal irritation and slower re-growth.

Sugaring is known as halawa (sweet) or sookar (sugar) in Arabic, and moum in Farsi. It is widely practiced in the Middle East and Asia. As a cottage industry, this technique has been passed down through generations. Traditionally women cooked the paste in their kitchens and sugared each other. Traditionally, in the Middle East, it was common for a bride to be sugared from head to toe before her wedding day. In ancient Egyptian times, it was considered unclean to present oneself to royalty with any hair.

Today, the technique has evolved to be practiced safely in a professional esthetic environment. The Sweet & True formula was inspired by a family recipe and has been formulated for professional salon use. Sugaring continues to grow in popularity across the globe as consumers are becoming more educated and aware of the positive effects of natural botanical ingredients in all aspects of their lives. We strongly believe our body sugaring products and technique are a safe and essential way to maintain one’s natural beauty while preserving the integrity of our planet.
